The American Farm Bureau Federation has joined with several universities and ag businesses to put together a central repository for farm business data. One of the University’s involved in the process is the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Nebraska Farm Bureau’s Jordan Dux says they’re striving to give farmers control of their data.
He says much of the data comes from precisions ag equipment including planters, sprayers, combines and agricultural drones. Dux says it’s important for farmers to have control of this data to protect their privacy.
Dux says a lot of the high tech information farmers are collecting is becoming more valuable. This initiative will help them determine what to do with their data, whether that’s to store it or develop cropping plans from it.
Dux says by using this Agricultural Data Coalition, farmers will be empowered to better control, manage and maximize data they collect every day in their fields.
