Trade and immigration reform emerged as policy priorities for American Farm Bureau members at their annual meeting last week. Minnesota Farm Bureau President Kevin Paap says developing an immigration policy that includes a guest worker program is critical because there aren’t enough workers to plant and harvest crops and produce on the nation’s farms.

He says farm bureau is also looking at ways to improve markets for farmers and that includes approving free trade agreements such as the Trans Pacific Partnership.

Paap says they’re also continuing their fight for federal regulatory reform.

Paap says they’re also asking Congress to pass a national voluntary biotech labeling bill and protect farmer’s access to that technology.
