Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack along with State Veterinarians from 7 states are working with an advisory group to try and find answers regarding PED virus and improve reporting and tracking of the disease. Minnesota Pork Board Executive Director Dave Preisler says since the reporting requirement of PEDV was issued by USDA, there have been many questions.

Preisler says they don’t know if USDA will issues rules dealing with PEDV. He says researching how the virus got to the U.S. are keys for dealing with the disease.

PED virus has been found in 30 states and 7 million pigs have died from the disease so far.
