Advanced Biofuels Win Court Case On RFS Challenge

Advanced Biofuels Win Court Case On RFS Challenge

This week the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit rejected a petition by Monroe Energy, an oil group challenging EPA’a 2013 Renewable Fuel Standard. The ruling upheld advanced biofuels and particularly biodiesel. National Biodiesel Board’s Ben Evans says it’s another in a long list of victories for the RFS against oil interests.
Evans says had the ruling gone in favor of Monroe Energy it could have devastated the biodiesel industry and put the future of the RFS in question.
Evans is hoping that EPA this June will come out with a favorable ruling over their 2014 RFS volume requirements and take those back up to earlier levels.
