Advanced Biofuel Leaders Have RFS Concerns

Top Executives from the advanced and cellulosic biofuels industry have written to President Obama telling him his RFS proposal undercuts investment in advanced biofuels. POET DSM President Dan Cummings says the uncertainty caused by the EPA’s RFS proposal has frozen POET’s plans to replicate Project Liberty across a majority of its 27 plant locations.
Cummings says that uncertainty regarding the RFS volume level proposal is causing them and other advance biofuels to outsource their industry to foreign countries.
Due to the administration’s RFS proposal, already $ 13.7 billion in investments have been frozen. The advance biofuels executive’s letter to the President says when he addresses the climate talks in Paris at the end of the year he’ll have to answer to how the U.S. can combat climate change by gutting the RFS, the only law that addresses climate change.
