A bilateral deal with Japan in the next trade agreement the Trump administration is expected to focus on following successful conclusion of the USMCA. Nebraska Cattlemen Association’s Executive Vice President Pete (muh-cly-mont) McClymont says that’s a very important market for America’s cattle producers.
He says the prior work done on the Trans Pacific Partnership will speed up the negotiations with the Japanese.
McClymont even if tariffs don’t come down right away a deal with Japan is beneficial.
The Trump administration is also focusing on the European Union for a future trade agreement. McClymont thinks that deal will take a little longer mainly due to the Brexit situation.
