Archer Daniels Midland officials have announced they’re planning to build North Dakota’s first ever dedicated soybean crushing plant and refinery near Spiritwood. The approximately $350 million crush and refining complex will have the capacity to process 150,000 bushels of soybeans per day. North Dakota Soybean Grower’s Association President Joe Ericson says that amount of soybeans being processed will be a significant amount of the beans grown in the state.

He says the soy crush and refining facility will generate a huge boost in the state’s economy and for soybean growers.

Ericson is hoping the ADM plant will lead to more processing facilities locating in North Dakota. He’s excited about the project because he lives only 20 miles from where the plant will be built.

The ADM plant and refinery is expected to be completed prior to the 2023 harvest.
