The Yankton City Commission will be asked to consider and approve a contract with a Colorado marijuana consultant at their meeting Monday.

State voters approved two marijuana measures last November, one a constitutional amendment legalizing recreational marijuana and an initiative allowing medical marijuana.

City Manager Amy Leon says there are challenges and opportunities for cities with the two ballot issues….

Leon says she anticipates the consultant would work with them for some time…

Mayor Nathan Johnson says they want to have as much information as possible before they set any policies….

The constitutional amendment is facing a court challenge which could delay implementation.

The city commission meets Monday at 7PM at the CM-TEA building.
