Thursday was the start of the EPA imposed Reid Vapor Pressure Rule which bans the sale of E 15 from now until September 15. American Coalition for Ethanol Senior Vice President Ron Lamberty says his group is asking the EPA to lift the rule so E 15 can be offered year round. He says they’re also supporting measures in Congress to do away with the rule.

He says the RVP doesn’t make sense because E 15 is better for the environment than E 10 is and yet during the summer, E 15 can’t be used while E 10 can.

Lamberty says the RVP confuses consumers and hurts ethanol retailers.

E 15 can be used in all cars and light trucks model years 2001 and newer and typically costs five to 10 cents less than regular gasoline.
