Leaders of the American Coalition for Ethanol have submitted comments to the EPA and three other federal agencies to establish a pathway for automakers to meet CAFÉ Greenhouse Gas standards with low carbon fuels. ACE Executive Vice President Brian Jennings says automakers are developing new engines to meet these standards, but to also meet environmental goals, low carbon fuels like ethanol are needed.

He says the rule-making process will be a long drawn out one.

Jennings says the automakers have also submitted comments calling for the low carbon fuels.

Jennings says the final standards will be released in 2018.
