The American Coalition for Ethanol is one of the groups the EPA has requested to join them in their Smart Sectors Program. ACE Executive Vice President Brian Jennings says one of the main purposes of the program is to improve communication between the EPA and various groups impacted by regulations put out by the agency.
He sees their participation in the Smart Sectors program as an opportunity to push policies that benefit renewable fuels.
Jennings says there are a host of issues impacting the biofuels industry that need to be addressed with the EPA. He says two of those include the need to lift the Reid Vapor Pressure rule to allow year round use of E 15 and to make sure RFS volume levels are in place that follow the intent of Congress.
Jennings says they also want the EPA to look seriously at the role for high octane fuel to be part of the solution for meeting future fuel economy and emissions standards on vehicles.
