Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy told the House Appropriations Committee that U.S. energy markets can’t absorb the levels of biofuels required by law to be blended into the fuel supply. McCarthy’s comments suggest EPA won’t budge on their proposal to lower RFS volume requirements. American Coalition for Ethanol Senior Vice President Ron Lamberty is hoping McCarthy wasn’t referring to this year’s RFS and that she’ll follow what the agency told them last week during their Fly In
Lamberty says everything else his group has heard is that EPA would be likely to come back to requiring the RFS volume levels to be returned to 14.4. billion gallons.
Lamberty says he expects a final EPA decision by around June 21.
