American Coalition for Ethanol officials are calling an E-W-G report ‘’ridiculous’’. The Environmental Working Group released a study that says EPA’s volume requirement proposal under study would not only reduce the corn ethanol mandate but would cut carbon emissions. ACE Senior Vice President Ron Lamberty says to say fossil fuels and gasoline is better for the environment than renewable fuels just doesn’t make sense.
Lamberty also says the E-W-G study also has un realistic numbers related to how many wetland and grassland acres have been plowed up for corn ethanol.
Lamberty says if USDA’s numbers are correct then according to E-W-G farmers quit farming on 16 million acres of good productive land in order to plow up wetland and grasslands for corn acres.
