American Coalition for Ethanol officials are preparing to submit comments to the EPA on their proposed rule to adjust the RFS. That adjustment involves expanding the availability of E 16 To E 83 blends for use in flex fuel vehicles. ACE Senior Vice President Ron Lamberty says the problem with the agency’s proposal is that it lets E 15 not to be offered during summer months because of the Reid Vapor pressure rule.
He says the proposal the EPA is making will lead to retailers not offering E 15 because it’s not classified as a flex fuel as is E 16 through E 83 and is subject to the RVP rule which doesn’t allow its use in the summer.
Lamberty says the EPA is hanging on to their summer objection to E 15 while giving an RVP waiver to E 10 and regular gasoline.
The public has 60 days to submit comments on the EPA proposed rule which was published on Tuesday this week.
