The American Coalition for Ethanol is voicing concern that the Environmental Protection Agency has missed important deadlines dealing with the Renewable Fuel Standard. ACE CEO Brian Jennings says the EPA normally comes out with the Renewable Volume Obligations petroleum companies must meet under the RFS by July 4. He says they’ve failed to meet that deadline for 2021 RVOs and there’s no indication when they may be released.
He says the EPA also has not responded to a request sent to them from ACE back in April asking for an emergency interim final rule on RVOs to restore RFS volumes to help ethanol producers hurt by the pandemic.
Jennings says the EPA is also being inactive on dealing with small refinery waiver requests which they need to deny in accordance with a court ruling issued back in January. He says it likely will take Congressional intervention to force the agency to follow the court’s ruling.
Jennings says the EPA needs to get the RFS back on track.
