The 2019 Renewable Volume Obligations for refiners to blend into ethanol under the Renewable Fuel Standard were released by the EPA on Tuesday. It left conventional ethanol at 15 billion gallons and total RVOs at 19.88 billion gallons which was a slight increase. American Coalition for Ethanol CEO Brian Jennings says the levels are o.k., but his group’s major concern are the RFS waivers granted to a number of refiners. He says what’s even more concerning is the EPA Administrator wasn’t truthful about waiver granting when he met with South Dakota producers recently.
He says the EPA Administrator isn’t following the RFS which is law.
Jennings says if those waivers continue to be granted, it will devastate the rural as well as overall economy.
Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says that both Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue and Energy Secretary Rick Perry need to pressure the EPA chief to follow the law. Jennings says it should be up to President Trump.
