The American Coalition for Ethanol is backing South Dakota Senator John Thune’s Surface Transportation Board Re Authorization Act of 2014 that passed out of Committee on Wednesday. ACE Executive Vice President Brian Jennings says it’s a good start in addressing the ever growing rail back log problem that’s effecting shipments of ag commodities, renewable fuel and even coal.
Jennings says while the rail problem has hurt farmers and ranchers who have had to store crops on the ground, ethanol plants are in an even tougher position.
Jennings says the problem needs to be addressed especially with a bumper harvest expected this fall.
