The State of South Dakota got about one point two billion dollars from the federal government earlier this year to help offset costs from the Covid-19 pandemic.

There was still about four hundred million dollars of that remaining which has to be spent by the end of the year.

Liza Clark, Commissioner of the Bureau of Finance and Management, was in front of the Interim Joint Committee on Appropriations (Monday) to explain what has been spent so far….

Clark says the Department of Labor will get another chunk of the federal dollars….

Clark also says they are working through issues with the call center being used for grant applications and payments…

Clark told the committee that payments are being processed and that checks will start arriving in the next couple of weeks.
