The open sign up for health insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act is underway, but there are fewer resources available calling attention to that.

Community Action agencies across the state had navigators employed to help people find the coverage they needed.

Cindy Dannenbring, Executive Director of the Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership based in Madison, says the federal funding for the navigator program was cut back….

Dannenbring says that funding would not cover they navigators they had last year….

Dannenbring says the support funding for the Affordable Care Act was cut several times last year….

At least three people were laid off from the agencies due to the cutbacks.

Dannenbring says all they can do now is refer people to the website “Healthcare dot gov” and hope they can sign up on their own.
