An abortion debate which spilled over from the first round, nearly derailed the 9(B)Billion dollar Nebraska state budget on second round.

Appropriations Committee chair John Stinner of Gering says he should never have left the language on federal family planning funds in the budget bill. . .

Yet, Senator Steve Erdman of Bayard didn’t see the need for an apology

Opponents of the language accuse the Ricketts Administration of slipping in the language in an effort to keep federal funds from flowing to Planned Parenthood.

It took a re-vote, but legislators removed the language, then advanced the budget to the final round of voting
