The University of South Dakota is in a good spot, but has to work hard not to slip behind. That was much of the message from President Jim Abbott in his “State of the University” speech in Vermillion.

Abbott says they continue to see gradual growth in student numbers…

Abbott says they, along with every other university, are challenged to get more freshmen to return for their second year…

Abbott says their goal is to have an incoming class of fifteen hundred freshmen each year.

Abbott says a student survey shows they want more attention to out of class experiences…

Abbott also said they will officially launch their two hundred fifty million dollar capital campaign during Dakota Days week.
