Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa is expanding its Ag Stewardship Center with an $ 8 million project they hope to complete by the fall of 2022. Ag Department Head, Professor Gary De Vries says they’re adding a monoslope building for housing livestock as well as a greenhouse.
He says their greenhouse came from a donation from a company in Canada. De Vries says that will have different trees housed there for their plant science students to study.
De Vries says the number of students in their ag department has doubled since 2009.. And currently they have 146 two year and four year ag students. He says that growth is part of the reason for this expansion project.
He says the expansion project is being funded totally by donations and there are no student tuition funds being used.
