South Dakota State FSA Director Steve Dick has announced farmers and landowners within 32 counties are now eligible for Emergency Conservation Program disaster assistance payments resulting from the derecho storm that hit the state on May 12th.
Dick says farmers have 60 days following May 19th to file for the assistance payments. He talks about what farmers can claim for damage from the storm.
Dick says the restoration of shelter belts and windbreaks are also covered with the assistance program. He says the eligible area consists of the eastern side of the state.
The South Dakota FSA Director says farmers can also apply for the Livestock Indemnity Program if any livestock were severely injured or killed during the storm.
