Members of the Joint Appropriations Committee of the South Dakota Legislature got an update on estimated 2017 revenues at their meeting in Pierre on Friday.
Jim Terwilliger, state economist with the Bureau of Finance and Management, says they are pulling back their estimates a bit……

Terwilliger says they saw sales tax collections drop a bit at the end of the 2016 fiscal year……

Terwilliger says they expect that softer trend in sales tax to continue for a few months……

Those estimates will form the basis for next year’s budget, which will be delivered to the legislature in December.
