Record numbers were the story of the year for South Dakota tourism. The Governors Conference on Tourism wrapped up Thursday night in Pierre.
As part of that, final numbers from last year were released.
Governor Dennis Daugaard had some of the details….

That spending supported about fifty two thousand jobs, and added over two hundred seventy million dollars in state and local tax revenue.

Tourism Department Secretary Jim Hagen says the good year got off to a rough start….

Hagen says they continue to focus on the region around South Dakota, with some new target markets this year…..

Almost fourteen million people visited the state last year, with over four million visiting national parks in the state.
