Freshman Macy Miller (Mitchell) scored a team-high 18 points despite the South Dakota State women’s basketball team losing 82-64 Sunday at Marist College.
Miller was 7 of 12 from the field and grabbed 8 rebounds for the Jackrabbits (8-4). Freshman Ellie Thompson (Chaska, Minn.) scored 12 points and had 7 rebounds off the bench. Senior Mariah Clarin (Princeton, Minn.) grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds to go with 8 points.
Marist (6-5) had four players in double digits led by Madeline Blais’ 23 points. Tori Jarosz had a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
SDSU held a 40-34 lead at halftime, but the Red Foxes opened the second half on a 15-4 run to take a 49-44 lead with 15:27 on the clock. SDSU cut the lead to three, 49-46, on a Thompson jumper, but Marist then went on a 19-2 run to take a 65-51 lead with 9:48 left in regulation.
South Dakota State breaks for the holidays before traveling to Cedar Falls, Iowa, to take on Northern Iowa Dec. 29 at 7 p.m.
