South Dakota State men’s basketball opened its season with a 70-57 victory Thursday night at Frost Arena over UT Rio Grande Valley, ringing in a new era of Jackrabbit basketball in successful fashion.

It was the first game under new head coach Eric Henderson.

Three Jackrabbits reached double figures in the win, led by Douglas Wilson’s 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting.

Matt Dentlinger turned in a 17-point, 14-rebound effort for his first-career double-double, and Brandon Key added 15 points alongside six assists.
