The Board of Directors for the historic Cramer-Kenyon Home located at 509 Pine Street in Yankton, is busy making plans for the official Tour Season under the leadership of President Anne Swift. Having been asked to take part in the “Night at the Yankton Museums” project scheduled for June 19th to further celebrate the 125th birthday of the State of South Dakota, the Board is pleased to announce that the Home will be open from Labor Day to Memorial Day weekends. Specific days and hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 1 – 5 p.m. Reservations can be made now by calling 665-7470. Prices for the hour-long tour of the East Lake Stick Style Historic Home, the gardens and the carriage house are $7 for adults, $3 for children 6 – 12 and no charge for those under 5 years of age.

A new feature added this season to share the yard and gardens surrounding the Cramer-Kenyon Home will be an “Open Garden Party” from 6:30 until 7:30 just before each of the 6 band concerts in the amphitheater at Riverside Park. The dates for these opportunities to view the historic Dorothy Jencks gardens and the gazebo dedicated to her as well as the distinctive plants and flowers indigenous to the era of the home are June 3, 10, 17, 24 and July 1 & 8. No reservations are necessary for this enjoyable hour at the close of a summer day.

The Board is grateful to those who have supported the preservation of life as it was lived a century ago and invites a return visit while welcoming first-time visitors to experience the ambience of yesteryear.
