That’s the motto of the international Ice Bowl disc golf tournament, and only tough cookies will be accepted at the Siouxland Disc Golf Ice Bowl with tee off at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, a part of the University of Okoboji Winter Games.

The Siouxland Disc Golf Ice Bowl will be held at the Okoboji Gold Disc Golf Course in Kenue Park in Okoboji and is open to all ages and all ability levels.

Registration costs $20, and those who pre-register by Jan. 2 will receive a free Ice Bowl disc. Participants are also required to bring at least one non-perishable food item to the tournament, and all proceeds and food donations will be given to Upper Des Moines Opportunity.

To sign up for the tournament, contact Siouxland Disc Golf Ice Bowl director Terry Crisel at terrycrisel@hotmail.com.

The Siouxland Disc Golf Ice Bowl is a part of the international Ice Bowl, which is a collection of disc golf events held January-February that support charities fighting hunger. It began in 1987 as a way to get disc golfers out during the wintertime.

Also during Winter Games weekend, the Horseshoe Bend Winter Sports Area tubing hill will be open, weather-permitting, at the county park in Milford. Regular hours are 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday-Sunday when there is enough snow on the hill. Passes are $8 per day or $75 for a family season pass. Call 712-338-4786 to check if the hill is open.
