Siouxland Focus,” an exhibition of dozens of images by members of the century-old Sioux City Camera Club, will open with a program at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17 at the Betty Strong Encounter Center. Admission will be free.

A panel discussion and slideshow will look at photographic aspects of the exhibit images. Discussion will focus on composition, lighting, exposure, special-effects and techniques. The audience will be invited to participate in a question-and-answer session

Two locally produced short videos will be presented on Sioux City Camera Club activities. “Photography Day at the Museum” will offer an overview of photographic techniques demonstrated last winter at the Sioux City Public Museum.

“Drone Zone” stars camera club member Larry Crabb, a former licensed pilot, who presented a program on drones, including a demonstration of drone photography last summer before a crowd at the Betty Strong Encounter Center.

The Camera Club’s “Siouxland” exhibition captures a rich range of subjects, including the Woodbury County Courthouse and Woodbury County’s oldest brick schoolhouse; Missouri River fireworks and a threatening summer sky; Trinity Heights’ sculptures and downtown skateboarding. Nature, wildlife, rural scenes, and picturesque landscapes bring depth and color to exhibition experience.
