The Benedictine Sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery and the Mount Marty College Music Department will present their annual Vespers performance on Sunday, December 6. The free performances will be held at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the Bishop Marty Memorial Chapel on the Mount Marty College campus.
Tickets to Vespers are free and space is limited to 500 people per performance. Tickets will be available starting on Monday, November 9, at noon at the Mount Marty College Pages Bookstore and the Sacred Heart Monastery Gift Shop. There is a limit of 6 tickets per person.
This year’s Vespers performance is titled, “ad verbum illuminatum” (the illuminated word) and will feature music that reflects the text of the illuminations from the St. John’s Bible. Under the direction of Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Kenneth Tice, the choirs of Mount Marty College will present the music of Tallis, Brahms, Thompson, Tin, Powell, and more, along with traditional Christmas carols. In addition, a special Prelude concert by the Mount Marty Choral Union will begin at 6:20 p.m.
