The rural parishes of Dalesburg Lutheran Church, Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church and Brule Creek Lutheran Church are joining together for a series of Lent services that gather rural communities together and provide support for local charities.
The three churches will combine congregations for a series of Wednesday Lenten services to be held at Dalesburg Lutheran Church (30595 University Rd, Vermillion, SD). Each gathering will begin with a free community supper and hymn sing-along starting at 6pm, followed by a worship service at 7pm. Offerings received during the weekly Lent services will be collected and distributed to a different local charity each week. The public is invited to all services and children of all ages are encouraged to take part.
“We look forward to gathering as a community during the Lent season and using our collective resources to make an impact in our region to those who need it most” said Dalesburg Lutheran Council President Rachel Oelmann. “Our doors are open to all to eat, sing and worship with us both during Lent and all seasons. Community is something we can build together.”
Each week’s worship theme is built from the confirmation curriculum and confirmation students from each congregation will be a part of the services. Worship will be led by Pastor Steve Martens and Scott Munger, Vicar of Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church. The full schedule of services and designated charitable beneficiaries is below.
