South Dakota Farm Bureau Watching Ag Issues In State Legislature
South Dakota legislators are working to wrap up most of their 2010 session in Pierre and the State Farm Bureau continues to monitor issues important to agriculture. South Dakota Farm Bureau CEO Mike Held says one issue they’ve been watching is the ag land valuation measure that passed last year that they supported that has caused problems for just a few assessors.
Held says the other ag issue Farm Bureau is concerned with is the contractors excise tax effecting wind energy projects and that has yet to be worked out.
Held says overall it’s been a positive session for agriculture particularly in the area of keeping unneeded regulations from going into effect hampering farming and ranching operations.
