State lawmakers are now in a watch and wait mode as they attempt to wrap up the budget and the main run of the legislative session by tomorrow.A new wrinkle was added when the US Senate passed the jobs bill yesterday. In that, was extra Medicaid money for the states. It appears South Dakota could get about thirty million extra dollars.
Senate Appropriations Chair Jean Hunhoff of Yankton says that could change the budget equation...
Republicans have proposed cutting about fifty million dollars without going to the state reserves.
Hunhoff says the budget is also waiting on final action on several important bills...
Hunhoff says they are dealing with conflicting options and opinions...
She says it is possible final action could be delayed to the final legislative day on March 29th.
