Hegge Named To Great West Team

University of South Dakota sophomore Amber Hegge has been named to the All-Great West Conference first team in women’s basketball, the league announced on Wednesday.
In addition, USD junior Abby Kinder (Granger, Ind.) was named to the All-GWC second team and was also named to the All-Newcomer team.
Hegge (Crofton, Neb.) is having a strong all-around season for the Coyotes. She leads the Coyotes in scoring (12.9 points per game), rebounding (6.4 per game), assists (76), blocks (30) and field-goal percentage (54.1). Hegge has been particularly solid in conference games, where she has averaged 15.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while shooting 56.3 percent from the field. Hegge was named the GWC Player of the Week on Jan. 27. Hegge leads the Coyotes with six double-doubles this season.
Kinder leads USD in three-pointers made (70) and three-point percentage (39.5). She ranks in the top 50 in Division I in three-pointers made per game (2.5) and three-point percentage. Kinder is second on the USD roster in scoring (11.6) and rebounding (5.3). She also leads the team in minutes per game (33.3).
The Coyotes (14-15) will open Great West Conference play on Thursday, March 11 against the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Game time is 3:30 p.m. Central time in Orem, Utah.
