Coalition Wants Strategic Plan And A US Trade Policy
The United States is losing markets and needs reform of its trade stance. That’s according to Nebraska Farmers Union President John Hansen who serves as board member for the Coalition for a Prosperous America and was in the nation’s capital last week. He says there are three major problems with trade including currency devaluation in China, value added taxes put on by other countries against the U.S. and what’s known as border adjustable taxes that are all hurting America.
Hansen says the average value added tax amounts to 18 % meaning that U.S. goods shipped to those countries already cost 18 % more than their domestic products. He says the other major problem is other countries have a trade plan in place while the U.S. relies on philosophical arguments when negotiating agreements.
Hansen says Congress needs to get up to speed and deal with the huge import export inequities the U.S. is experiencing.
