US Official Says EU Approval Of 4 GM Crops Just The Beginning
The European Commission has approved four genetically modified crops including three GM maize types made by U.S. biotech firm, Monsanto. The approval is the beginning stages of what biotech officials hope will be increased entry into the European market for gm products. That’s according to Biotech Industry Organization’s Sharon Bomer Lauritsen.
Lauritsen says the next step is for U.S. trade officials to push EU officials to make further inroads.
In addition to approving the four genetically modified crops, EU Commission officials also said they may let EU countries decide whether or not to grow GM crops on their soil
