Iowa Senate President Says Biodiesel Mandate Could Pass
It’s a critical week in the Iowa legislature.Lawmakers are trying to get their priority bills out of committee or they aren’t likely to be heard this session.Iowa Senate President Jack Kibbie says one that he is supporting is a bill to mandate 10 % ethanol use in the state, even though the chance of passage isn’t good.
Kibbie says another renewable energy bill that has a better chance of approval is a biodiesel mandate bill.It passed the Senate last year and is currently in the Iowa House.
Kibbie says another piece of legislation he’s hoping gets out of committee this week is an ag indemnity bill.It would increase the dollars in the grain indemnity fund and cover more losses when warehouses go into bankruptcy
