Meet our Best Man

March 10th, 2010 by Erin

weddingwed0112101

Last week I introduced you to our Maid of Honor…this week how about our Best Man:

Wedding Title: Best Man
Name: Christopher James Schuch ( I was wrong! Not Stanley - James… and he goes by Chris)
Occupation: Mechanic God (he fixes almost anything)
Location: Tyndall, SD
Details: I went to school with Chris - grade school through high school. We got along then - but didn’t hang out as much as Jon and Chris did. Their fathers both farm and so they spent quite a bit of time together helping each other out. Chris still helps us out on the farm - as the chief baler operator when Jon needs a break or is busy with other farm duties. I have gotten to know Chris even better now and are so excited to have him stand up for us!

This is Chris and Jon at a concert a few years ago!

This is currently the only way we have found to fix the problem! Plus if you e-mail me to inform me about the issue…I am not able to respond to that e-mail!

Sick Leave

March 8th, 2010 by Erin

I was gone the end of last week…mostly due to sickness! I was and still slightly am…sick in the head (sinus infection). So my best guess is that I most likely caught it from my computer - but am working on getting better! Will be back to full steam, hopefully by Wednesday! Check back tomorrow for witty humor as I am not yet up for it today! ~ erin

Maid of Honor

March 3rd, 2010 by Erin

weddingwed0112101

I think I have disclosed all of the basic information about the wedding - so how about I introduce you to some of the honored guests starting with my Maid of Honor!

Wedding Title: Maid of Honor
Name: Jill Michelle Tycz
Occupation: Student at Black Hills State
Location: Belle Fourche, SD
Details: Jill is studying to do something with dirt - or at least that was what I understood of the whole process! Last I know, she was trying to get a job this summer with fish - a hatchery - out in the hills. She is my only sister and is just 3 years behind me (21 years old). She has for the past 21 years gotten to celebrate her birthday first…as it is the day before mine! We yelled at each a lot growing up and I hated that she would steal my clothes! We get along better now and I am honored that she agreed to stand up for Jon and me.

Isn’t she pretty? Everyone says we look alike - what do you think?

Star Spangled Banner Day!

The Star Spangled Banner Lyrics
By Francis Scott Key 1814

Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
‘Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps’ pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

I didn’t expect you to know all the lyrics…BUT you should know the first verse! That is the one we all sing!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

March 2nd, 2010 by Erin

drseuss

He would be 106 years old today…but his stories still hold children and adult’s attention like they were just written! Here is a list of the top 10 Dr. Seuss Quotes!

1. You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself, any direction you choose.

2. Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.

3. From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere.

4. Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.

5. Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So… get on your way.

6. If you never did, you should. These things are fun, and fun is good.

7. I meant what I said, and I said what I meant. An elephant’s faithful, one hundred percent.

8. So the writer who breeds more words than he needs, is making a chore for the reader who reads.

9. And will you succeed? Yes indeed, yes indeed! Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed.

10. Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.

I would have to say I am a huge Dr. Seuss fan! I have many of his books on my bookshelf right now!

They Call this Art!

Australia Nude Opera House

SYDNEY – About 5,200 naked people embraced each other on the steps of Sydney’s iconic Opera House on Monday for a photo shoot by Spencer Tunick.

Tunick, who is known for his nude group photos in public spaces, posed participants for more than an hour in a variety of positions.

“It was difficult to get the straight participants to embrace the gay participants and vice versa,” Tunick said. “So I was very happy that that last set up finally got done and everyone came together (in a) united, friendly kiss, a loving kiss in front of this great structure.”

Nineteen-year-old student Art Rush said he was thrilled to participate.

“I’ll never get a chance to do this again; it’s not worth being inhibited,” Rush said. “It doesn’t feel sexual, it just feels tribal, a gathering of humanity.”

Tunick has made a name for himself with his works featuring hundreds of naked people at unusual venues.

Tunick, who is shy and adheres to mostly black dress, prefers to be called an artist, not a photographer and refers to his work as installations.

ART??!? Really? Sounds more like porn!

He’s Still Alive!

March 1st, 2010 by Erin

I was trusted with my Godson Marshall ALL weekend - ALL by myself and I managed to keep him alive! I don’t have picture proof - because Dee has the camera BUT when she comes to work I will put some pictures up here! We had lots of fun! Stopped to meet my Dad - and then they jammed out!  and we also stopped to meet my Grandma Wagner!

Overall it was a great weekend…minus a meltdown at the very end! Thanks for trusting me with your son Dee!
