Kiefer Sutherland to play villain in 'Pompeii'

Kiefer Sutherland is set to drop his good guy image and play a villain in "Resident Evil" director Paul W.S. Anderson's new 3D disaster movie "Pompeii."

The "24" star will play opposite Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington in the period epic, which began shooting in Toronto, Canada last week.

The movie is set in 79 A.D. in the days before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius - one of history’s great disasters.

Jared Harris and Emily Browning are also among the cast.

Sutherland will play a tyrannical Roman senator, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
