More debate is expected this week following the report of Vice President Joe Biden on tightening gun control rules. South Dakota Senator John Thune says lawmakers should step back from the issue for a bit.
Thune says he wants to hear and see details of any proposal.
There has been some discussion that President Obama could tighten rules on gun ownership by executive order. Thune says that would be a mistake.
