As ag groups start working on the 2013 farm bill they are bracing for the reality of an even smaller baseline than last year. American Farm Bureau Lobbyist Mary Kay Thatcher says it’s hard to determine how much less money there will be until they get back a Congressional Budget Office score.
She says the nine month farm bill extension did not contain funding for livestock disaster assistance and they are hoping it can get included in a bigger disaster bill.
However, the House already this week backed off from considering the Hurricane Sandy disaster package.
