Beef Check off Major Contractor Upset With Lawsuit

NCBA leaders are issuing concerns this week following last week’s filing of a lawsuit against Cattlemen’s Beef Board, USDA and Ag Marketing Service targeting the beef check off.

NCBA is not only the main contractor but the primary recipient of check off funds and President J.D. Alexander says he doesn’t like the fact an animal extremists groups has a major role in the recent litigation

He says charges that producers don’t support the check off is ridiculous and the facts prove otherwise.

Alexander says the implications and possible ramifications are very significant for all species of livestock and agriculture and not just for cattle producers.

He remains concerned as to why a group that claims to be working for producers, OCM is teaming up with an extremist group like HSUS to do away with a needed and important program.
