SD State Conservationist Outlines NRCS Programs

NRCS is providing financial and technical assistance for landowners in South Dakota, Minnesota and North Dakota for 18 projects to enhance wildlife habitat for wildlife on flooded or frequently flooded cropland.   NRCS State Conservationist Jeff Zimprich says the funding comes through the NRCS water bank program and will serve producers in the Northeast South Dakota as well as portions of the other two states.

Zimprich says this year’s funding is set although next year’s program will be determined by parameters of the 2012 farm bill.

Zimprich says anyone wanting more information should visit their local NRCS county office or log onto their website.
