G 20 leaders meeting recently in Mexico talked about the importance of sustainability in agriculture and meeting the challenge of feeding a growing world population that’s expected to hit 9.3 billion by 2050. World Farmers Organization President Robert Carlson who says farmers around the globe are a large part of the solution is pleased agriculture is getting so much attention.
Carlson says while farmers around the globe will have to deal with these challenges believes they are up to the task because they’ve been getting better and better at what they do on less resources with lesser inputs.
Carlson is also confident that farmers will be able to meet the 50 to 70 percent increase in ag production needed to feed the growing global population in the future.
