ICCI Effort Causes Hog Farm to Back Off and Drop Development Plans
Plans have been dropped for a 5,000 head hog farm in Dallas County Iowa to be located in Beaver township in the Raccoon River Watershed. ICCI members organized to stop the Brelsford and Cargill farm. ICCI’s Natalie Snyders says their opposition centered around environmental concerns and the location.
Iowa Pork Producers President Bill Tentinger was disappointed the farm dropped its plans for development. He doesn’t see any environmental problems with the operation and says any facility that has a manure management plan and follows Iowa law is environmentally responsible.
ICCI members had planned to attend the Dallas County Supervisors meeting to protest the operation prior to the hog farm pulling out.
