Tuesday is the last day for customers of MF Global to submit claims against the bankrupt clearing firm. Jim Bower with Bower Trading in Lafayette, Indiana was one of the commodity brokerage offices that cleared through MF Global. He says they have been busy the last several days helping their clients try to regain their portion of the $1.2 billion of segregated funds that disappeared when MF Global went under. He is optimistic about the bankruptcy process.
Bower says this is an unprecedented event that has given the industry a black eye. However, everyone wants to see justice served and customers made whole.
Forms and filing instructions are available at the trustee's website at www.mfglobaltrustee.com and have been mailed to all former customers. Anyone with questions about the claims process is should contact the Trustee's staff.
