Yankton School Board Considers Cell Tower Site

The Yankton School Board heard a proposal to build a cell phone tower on the grounds of Yankton Middle School at their meeting this week.

Mike Bieniek  who represents SBA Tower Company told the board that Verizon Wireless is looking for more tower sites…………

Bieniek says it isn’t so much about cell phone coverage as data capacity…………

Jim Fairchild, also representing the tower company, said most schools they work with opt for a long term lease with monthly payments………….

The board asked for more information and will make a decision on the tower proposal later.
