Voters in the Gregory school district this week defeated a property tax opt out proposal by a vote of 436 to 305. The opt out would have been for three hundred thousand dollars for each of the next three years.

Superintendent Sara Klein says their budget has been in the red for quite a while……

Klein says they had wanted to hire more elementary teachers to cut class sizes………

Klein says they do not have many more budget cutting options………

The school board has also decided to not accept their monthly pay and mileage in an attempt to help the budget situation. Gregory has about three hundred seventy eight students in K through 12.
