Wind Power Tax Break Signed

Tax breaks for wind energy have been signed into law by Governor Dave Heineman.
Senator Steve Lathrop of Omaha sponsored the bill that allows wind energy companies to apply for tax incentives under the Nebraska Advantage Act. . .

The bill will have an immediate impact in northeastern Nebraska’s Dixon County where Trade Winds of Kansas plans to build a 300-to-400 Million dollar wind farm. Trade Winds would receive 16-Million dollars in tax breaks under provisions of the bill. Lathrop  says it will give rural Nebraska an economic shot in the arm. . .

The bill also repeals the local option sales tax for Omaha.
